Privacy Policy for Medialoop

Medialoop (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we access, process, and handle your data. This document is designed to meet the requirements of the Google Play Developer Program Policies and local data protection regulations.

1. Core Principles & Non-Collection of Data

We operate under the principle of "Privacy by Design." Medialoop does not collect, store, or transmit:

• Personally Identifiable Information (PII): We do not ask for or store names, email addresses, or phone numbers.
• Private User Files: Your downloaded media files are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.
• Browsing History: We do not track the specific videos or full URLs you access.

2. Device Permissions and Data Access

To function as a media downloader and manager, Medialoop requires specific permissions. We only use these for core app features:

• Media Storage Access: We use the Android MediaStore API to save and manage media you download. We do not access photos or videos unrelated to the app’s direct functionality.
• Clipboard Access: When the app is in the foreground, we may read the clipboard to detect video links and provide a "Quick Download" prompt. This data is processed entirely locally and is never sent off-device.
• Sharing and External Actions: Medialoop provides functionality to share media URLs and downloaded files with other applications on your device. This process is strictly user-initiated. When you tap the share button, Medialoop utilizes the Android System Share Sheet to pass the file or URL to the destination app you select. Medialoop does not host any social network, and no user data is shared or exchanged natively between users within our application.

3. Analytics and Performance Monitoring

We use industry-standard tools (Google Firebase) to improve app stability. Collected data is anonymized and aggregated:

• Usage Telemetry: Non-identifying data on app interactions (e.g., download success rate).
• Sanitized Analytics: We only log the base domain (e.g., facebook.com) to understand platform popularity, while automatically stripping all unique user IDs or specific video paths.
• Crash Reports: Technical traces provided by Firebase Crashlytics help us fix bugs. These include device model and OS version but no personal data.

4. Advertising

Medialoop may show ads on Android to support the free product. Ads are controlled remotely and may be disabled at any time without an app update.

• Ad provider: We use Google AdMob to serve advertisements.
• Advertising ID: On Android, the Google Advertising ID may be used for ad serving and measurement, subject to your device settings and applicable law.
• Consent: Where required (for example in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), we present a consent form via Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) before requesting personalized ads. You can also reset advertising preferences in your device settings.
• What we do not do: We do not sell your personal information. Ad load/fail telemetry is limited to non-identifying event names and placement labels.

5. Policy Compliance & Intellectual Property

Medialoop respects the terms of service of third-party platforms and intellectual property rights:

• No YouTube Downloading: In strict accordance with the Google Play Store Policy, Medialoop does not support or allow downloading content from YouTube.
• User Responsibility: Users are responsible for ensuring they have the legal right to download and use content. We do not encourage or facilitate copyright infringement.
• Third-Party Platforms: Medialoop allows you to share content to third-party platforms (e.g., social media or messaging apps). Once content leaves Medialoop via the system share sheet, it is governed by the privacy policy and terms of service of the receiving third-party application. We do not have control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content or privacy practices of any third-party services.

6. Data Security and Retention

• Encryption in Transit: Any data sent to analytics providers is encrypted using modern cryptographic standards.
• Ephemeral Processing: Clipboard data is processed ephemerally (momentarily) and is not stored after the link is parsed.
• Local Management: Since we do not host user accounts, you have total control over your data; deleting the app removes all locally managed download records.

7. Children’s Privacy

Medialoop is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
